DEVELOPMENT TASK SPECIFIC IONIC SYSTEMS FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Resumen
In last years, Ionic Liquids (ILs) as low melting and functional organic salts based on the adequate combination of organic cation and a variety of anions have been developed and applied in several research fields. In this context, our group has explored several applications using task-specific ILs: i) Development of metal nanoparticles in IL media for CO2 valorization into fuels (e.g. methane, syngas) and valuable products (e.g. cyclic carbonates) [1]; ii) Development of ionic stimuli-responsive systems incorporating chromogenic materials in the IL structure [2] and IL additives for lubricants [3]; iii)Exploring ILs as efficient electrolytes for energy storage and production devices [4]; iv) Novel pharmaceutical ILs incorporating drugs as cations or anions with significant improvement into biological and therapeutic properties [5]; v) Hydrophobic ILs for purification of contaminated water [6]. Recently, eutectic systems appears as another class of functional and sustainable materials with a large range of applications in catalysis, energy and pharmaceutical fields [7, 8].
